Speaking Themes & Topics

Building resilience

Being resilient does not mean that a person does not experience complex life events but can better cope with them when they do occur. It involves adapting to changes and approaching adverse events as constructively as possible.

Born in a refugee camp in Kenya, Anyier dealt with the loss of her parents early, moved to Australia at the age of 10, and dealt with intergenerational conflict. Anyier created her future through hard work and resilience. Anyier has seized every opportunity offered to her to not only extend her formal education to the Doctorate level and launch her social enterprise businesses but also has a vision for an inclusive society in which individuals from different backgrounds can work to achieve their aspirations regardless of their past. In her talk, you will learn:

Anyier brings a fresh take on diversity and inclusion, having created impactful work with everyone from refugees to corporate leaders. Anyier draws from lived experience as a woman of colour and South Sudanese-Australian growing up being seen as the ‘other’. Anyier believes diversity and inclusion can only be achieved if diversity, differences, and equity are truly valued in our society and workplace. In this keynote session, Anyier uses her knowledge and lived experience to call for action and encourage individuals and leaders to leverage the diversity of thinking to create a space that makes a systemic change.

Growth mindset

Anyier believes how you approach your thinking and mindset substantially impacts your personal and professional success. If you adopt a fixed attitude, where you feel your abilities and potential are limited, you will hinder your growth and development. Embracing a growth mindset makes you perceive challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. This mindset encourages you to recognise your strengths, overcome obstacles, adapt to changing circumstances, and continuously learn from
experiences. Choosing a growth mindset is crucial for unlocking your potential and achieving success in various aspects of your life.

In her talk, you will learn Anyier’s 5 Rules to Maintaining a growth mindset.

  • Overcoming Self-Limiting Beliefs: Anyier’s insights can help individuals identify and challenge their self-limiting beliefs holding them back from realising their potential.
  • Leveraging Strengths: Anyier’s message encourages attendees to identify their strengths and use them as assets to overcome challenges and seize opportunities.
  • Adapting to Change: A growth mindset enables individuals to adapt more in the face of change. They learn to see change as a chance for growth rather than something to be feared.
  • Resilience: Viewing setbacks and failures as learning experiences rather than definitive failures enhances individuals’ resilience. They are more likely to bounce back from challenges with renewed determination.
  • Positive Attitude: By adopting a growth mindset, individuals are more likely to maintain a positive attitude even under challenging circumstances. This positivity can lead to increased motivation and productivity.
